Lyrics

The leaves around my feet are dying (if not dead) The trees around my crown are crying (I'm sure it's been said) The smell of roofing tar and sawdust fills the air The sounds of drying shells takes me where I want to be when I'm born I'd like to be right now instead I feel like I'm already dying I feel like I'm already... Already dead And I've never felt better Alread dead Cause I lost my good sweater Already dead And I know when I wake I'll feel so alive. The decades and the seconds are flying by I try to grasp as many as I can (sometimes I try) I don't even know what year it is, let alone the day The space between my ears is grey as... Clay from the yard where I am laid Sunbathing naked in my grave I went back to see it just the other day I was exactly, exactly the same Already dead... Everything is always the same again Change is temporary, a weather vane. Everything is always the same again Change is temporary, a weather vane.

Story

Words were "reinterpreted" for the album version. One of the last songs recorded for "Looking Forward..." and one of the best-sounding, technically.
